STEP-U.S. Embassy Registration

The Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) is a free service provided by the U.S. Government for U.S. Citizens who are traveling to, or living in, a foreign country. STEP allows you to enter information about your upcoming trip abroad so that the Department of State is better assist in an emergency. Please register your team at least one week prior to your departure date.

To make registration easy, download team member information from the Managed Missions website and register as a team by creating an “Organizational/Group Account.” Detailed instructions are available below.

STEP Registration Instructions

Reminder: You will need the following information to register your trip with STEP.

  • first name
  • last name
  • date of birth
  • one form of in-country contact information (full address and phone number)

Your Food for the Hungry Representative will provide Emergency Contact Information (contact name, FH office address and FH office telephone number). It is best to list the FH office as your in-country address and to list your Team Coordinator as the emergency contact. FH staff will coordinate with the U.S. Embassy in the event of an emergency.

Emergency Contact Information  

Before your departure, your Food for the Hungry Representative will provide Emergency Contact Information for the staff you will be working with in the country you will be visiting. It is very important to print this information and carry it with you at all times.  Please note that Emergency Contact Information should not be used for personal contact purposes.  If you have questions about what to do in the event of an emergency, please speak with your FH Representative before you depart the U.S.
